Computing start up

Following the introduction of the new national curriculum, schools were required to teach computing. With the backing of Microsoft, The Department for Education, Computing At School, Rising Stars and Hodder, the QuickStart project was created to assist teaching staff in schools. Working closely with the stakeholders, we designed the identity and branding toolkits to deliver accessible and inspiring computing lessons for primary and secondary teaching. We turned the computer ‘on’ button into the Q of the QuickStart logotype to convey the ease and speed of implementation. Colour was used to differentiate primary from secondary and played an important part of the information architecture. QuickStart has transformed computing teaching in thousands of schools.
